Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Brotherly Recruitment Leads to Terror Plot

Abdimajit Hassan Adan, a former teacher and trader from Isiolo, found himself embroiled in a terror plot after being recruited by his own brother, Badrudin Hassan. The tragic turn of events saw Badrudin being executed by Al Shabaab fighters in 2017 on suspicion of being a spy.

From Livelihood to Extremism

Abdimajit, born in Isiolo 30 years ago, initially pursued a career in education and later ventured into livestock trading. However, in 2015, he left for Somalia to join his brother in the ranks of Al Shabaab, becoming a fighter in the Jilib and Buale areas.

Unraveling a Terrorist Plot

Upon returning to Kenya in October 2017, Abdimajit was tasked by Al Shabaab leadership to orchestrate attacks on critical installations in Nairobi. Unbeknownst to him, law enforcement agencies were already monitoring his movements, leading to his arrest in February 2018.

Mohammed Osman Nane’s Path to Extremism

Another individual implicated in the terror plot is Mohammed Osman Nane, a bodaboda rider from Marsabit County. Despite a previously clean record, Nane joined Al Shabaab in Somalia in 2013 after dropping out of school and studying in the Madrasa system.

Struggles and Loyalties

Nane’s allegiance to Al Shabaab was tested when he joined a group pledging loyalty to Islamic State (IS) in 2016, leading to a fallout with his former comrades. He sought refuge in Jamame but was eventually apprehended and offered amnesty by Al Shabaab.

Tragic End for Mbarak Abdi Huka

Mbarak Abdi Huka, a key player in the terror plot, met his demise in a deadly confrontation with Kenyan forces in Isiolo County in 2018. Huka, born in Marsabit County, was responsible for transporting explosive devices during planned attacks.

Lydia Nyawira Mburu’s Involvement

On a different note, Lydia Nyawira Mburu, a 30-year-old mother of two from Nairobi County, was sentenced to three years for forging an Identification Card. Her background in Mass Communication and employment at a printing company paint a stark contrast to her involvement in the illicit activities.
