A twenty-five-year-old man from Clarendon has been charged with the murder of a 9-year-old child and the injuring of a woman following a shooting incident in the parish. The man, identified as Joel Williams of Windsor Avenue, May Pen, has been charged with the murder of Shamar Walker, a 9-year-old student of Church Street, May Pen, Clarendon, and the wounding of a female shopkeeper following an incident that occurred on January 26.

Details of the Incident

Reports from the May Pen Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) indicate that the tragic incident took place at approximately 7:45 pm. Shamar was among a group of people inside a yard when Williams entered and joined the group. Without warning, Williams opened fire at the group, causing chaos and fear among the bystanders. Shamar attempted to flee but was fatally shot as Williams pursued him. A female shopkeeper was also caught in the crossfire and sustained gunshot wounds during the incident.

Authorities were promptly notified, and the injured individuals were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, Shamar succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the medical facility, while the female shopkeeper was admitted in stable condition for further treatment and observation.
