SIBU: The tranquility of the Batang Baleh river in Kapit was shattered by a tragic boat incident that claimed the lives of two individuals. The bodies of Sergeant Jonathan Lambet, a police officer, and civilian Jack Balan, were recovered today, bringing sorrow and grief to the community.

Search and Rescue Operation

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief, Andy Alie, reported that the first body, Jack Balan, was found near Pulau Kerto at 10 am this morning. Later in the day, the SAR team located Sergeant Jonathan Lambet around 4 pm, approximately 5km from the site where the boat had capsized near SK Lepong Baleh.

Identification of Deceased

Both Jack Balan and Jonathan Lambet were identified as two of the four victims of the tragic incident. The search continues for the remaining missing individuals, police officer Amerson John Nain and civilian Iskandar Ibrahim.

Continuation of SAR Operation

The SAR operation was adjourned at 6 pm today and will resume tomorrow in hopes of locating the two missing individuals. The community remains hopeful for a successful recovery effort to bring closure to the families of the victims.
