Man Charged with Murder After Apparent Drug Overdose in Limestone County

Limestone County authorities have arrested a man on murder charges following the tragic death of another individual due to an apparent drug overdose. The incident took place at the intersection of Huntsville Brownsferry Road and Nuclear Plant Road, where the victim, Gregory Parks, 43, of Montgomery, was found unconscious and later pronounced dead at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Authorities were alerted to the situation by individuals who claimed to have discovered Parks on the roadside at the aforementioned location. It is worth noting that Huntsville Brownsferry Road and Nuclear Plant Road do not intersect, raising suspicions about the circumstances surrounding Parks’ death.

Investigation and Arrest

Following the discovery of the victim, investigators were able to identify a suspect vehicle in the vicinity. Subsequently, 10 individuals were detained for questioning, with Talmadge Anthony Townson II, 39, of Falkville, emerging as a person of interest in the case.

Investigators believe that Townson provided Parks with a fatal dose of fentanyl, leading to his untimely demise. In a disturbing turn of events, Townson allegedly attempted to conceal his involvement by tampering with the victim’s belongings after he became unconscious.

Legal Proceedings

Townson has been charged with felony murder and drug distribution in connection with the incident. He is currently being held without bond pending an Aniah’s Law hearing, with the possibility of additional charges being brought against him.
