Ohio Women Accused of Driving Deceased Man’s Body to Bank and Hospital
In a bizarre and disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Ashtabula, Ohio, two women have been arrested for allegedly driving the body of an 80-year-old man to a bank to withdraw money from his account before dropping his body off at a hospital.

The accused, Karen Casbohm, 63, and Loreen Bea Feralo, 55, have been charged with gross abuse of a corpse and theft from a person in a protected class. The incident came to light when the women dropped off the body at the Ashtabula County Medical Center emergency room without identifying themselves or the deceased individual.
According to the police, the women claimed that they had found the man, identified as Douglas Layman, deceased at the home where all three resided. With the help of a third unnamed person, they placed Layman in the front seat of his car and drove to a bank, where they made a withdrawal from his account.

Ashtabula Police Chief Robert Stell revealed that the women had positioned Layman’s body in the vehicle in such a way that he would be visible to bank staff during the withdrawal. This shocking act was reportedly allowed by the bank in the past as long as the women were accompanied by the deceased individual.
Lieutenant Mike Palinkas shared that one of the women had been in a live-in relationship with Layman for several years, while the other had been staying at the residence for a few months.
