Man from Hagerstown Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Armed Carjackings

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. – A 22-year-old man from Hagerstown, Maryland, has been handed a 10-year prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release for his involvement in a series of armed carjackings and an attempted carjacking across Maryland and Virginia.

Carlos Guardado-Eagle, along with a co-conspirator, carried out multiple carjackings between May 2022 and June 2022 in various locations spanning both states.

The pair, wearing masks to conceal their identities, targeted BMW vehicles in their crime spree. In some instances, they would obtain the keys to the stolen BMW, with one driving the luxury car and the other driving a separate vehicle.

Incidents Across Maryland and Virginia

One of the carjackings involved intentionally rear-ending a 2014 BMW in District Heights, Maryland. Upon the victim getting out of their vehicle to check the damage, Guardado-Eagle and his accomplice brandished guns, demanded the keys, and instructed the victim to flee. They then fled the scene in both the stolen BMW and their own vehicle.

In another incident in June, the pair attempted to carjack a victim who refused to hand over their keys. Guardado-Eagle and his accomplice resorted to violence in their failed attempt, assaulting the victim before fleeing in another vehicle.

Guardado-Eagle was apprehended in June 2022, putting an end to their criminal activities.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant and cautious, especially when it comes to protecting personal property and ensuring personal safety on the roads.
