A suspect has been apprehended following the tragic discovery of a deceased individual at the Redondo Beach Pier parking structure. The Redondo Beach Police Department identified the suspect as Alexis Martinez, a 29-year-old resident of Inglewood.

Details of the Incident

On the morning of February 16, authorities received a distressing call from a public works employee who had found an unconscious individual in the parking structure located at 100 West Torrance Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At that time, the perpetrator was nowhere to be found.

Arrest and Charges

Following an extensive investigation and a tip from the public, detectives were able to identify Martinez as the prime suspect in the case. On March 6, he was located in Inglewood and taken into custody. Martinez is currently facing charges of murder and is being held on a $2 million bail. A court hearing is scheduled for March 8 at the Torrance Courthouse.

Victim’s Identity and Motive

The identity and gender of the victim have not been disclosed, pending further investigation by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Police suspect that the victim may have been homeless, but the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
