Accident – Death – Obituary News : An 18-year-old man from Gainesville has been charged with the fatal shooting that occurred on Monday afternoon at the Eastwood Meadows Apartments. Terrell Nicholos Weeks is facing one count of second-degree murder in connection to the death of 24-year-old Tyren Edward Certain.

**Details of the Incident**

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report stated that deputies responded to a “person shot call” at the Eastwood Meadows Apartments located at 918 SE 44th St. Upon arrival, deputies found Certain suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was rushed to UF Health Shands Hospital by Alachua County Fire Rescue but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

**Witness Accounts**

According to witnesses, the suspect, identified as Terrell Weeks, was seen running north through the complex after the shooting. He dropped a gray sweatshirt and then attempted to enter an occupied vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle, who knew Weeks personally, refused to let him in as he claimed someone was shooting and needed a ride home.

The witnesses informed deputies that Weeks had blood on his left arm and face when he tried to enter their vehicle. After a search, Weeks was located at Apartment 48 and was taken in for questioning at the sheriff’s office.

**Suspect Denial and Witness Testimonies**

During the interview, Weeks denied any involvement in the shooting, stating that he was near the complex’s north entrance when he heard gunshots. Witnesses at the scene, however, identified Weeks as being in the vicinity along with another unidentified Black male.

Another witness reported seeing the victim entering the complex through the north entrance and stopping briefly for a “light-skinned black male to enter the vehicle.” The vehicle then drove east into the complex before turning south onto Southeast 44th Street, where several gunshots were heard.

**Charges and Evidence**

Weeks was charged with second-degree murder based on witness statements, video evidence from two Gainesville RTS buses, and the presence of blood on Weeks’ clothing discovered during the investigation.

The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Such acts of violence have no place in our community, and justice must prevail for the victim and his loved ones..
