Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Arrests Made in Fatal Shooting of Nathan Riley in Colorado Springs

Multiple arrests have been made in the tragic shooting death of 37-year-old Nathan Riley in Colorado Springs. The incident took place in the early morning hours of Feb. 11 at a residence located at 3627 Galley Road, which is situated in a strip mall.

According to arrest records, the Colorado Springs police received a call for urgent assistance just before 10 a.m. The caller reported that the front door of the address had been “busted” with a baseball bat, with shattered glass scattered across the pavement.

Discovery of the Scene

Upon arrival at the residence, police found 36-year-old Lyndsay Long requesting an ambulance. Riley was discovered lying face down on the shag green carpet, wearing a gray bathrobe. Unfortunately, Riley was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a homicide investigation was initiated.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office later determined that Riley had died from a gunshot wound to the neck. Long, in a police interview, revealed that she and Riley had been engaged and were planning to move back south to either Alabama or Florida in the coming days.

Details Uncovered

Long mentioned that the night before Riley’s death, she felt the need for a break from him and went to hang out with her friend, Brian Baldwin. Baldwin, who Long stated had unreciprocated romantic feelings towards her, picked her up in a black sedan belonging to his roommate and drove her back to her residence after she fell asleep at his place.

Upon returning to her home, Long found it in disarray, with broken glass, a shattered door, and belongings strewn about. She also noted that a bat found outside the residence was once inside the home, and surprisingly, no items seemed to be missing.

Security Footage Reveals Suspects

Security footage from surrounding businesses captured two men arriving in a U-Haul truck at the residence and loading various items, including tools and a bicycle, into the vehicle. Subsequent footage showed the suspects leaving the residence and driving away in the truck.

Later, the same men were seen reentering the residence on foot, with a third male matching Baldwin’s description observed in a black sedan parked outside. The suspects were then seen leaving the residence, with one of them smashing the glass door with the baseball bat.

Arrests and Charges

Following these developments, an arrest warrant was issued for Brian Baldwin on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree burglary. Baldwin is currently in custody on an elevated bond, awaiting further investigation to determine the direct responsibility for Riley’s death among the suspects.

The other two suspects’ identities have not been disclosed, and investigations are ongoing. Baldwin is scheduled to appear in court soon to face the charges against him.
