Accident – Death – Obituary News : Gaya Police Initiate Mobile App to Identify Accident-Prone Zones

Gaya: In an effort to enhance road safety and minimize accident risks, the Gaya police have introduced a mobile application to identify accident-prone zones on roads. The initiative involves the use of mobile applications, eDAR/iRD (integrated road accident database), to create a comprehensive database of road accidents in the area.

Senior SP Ashish Bharti highlighted, “All station house officers (SHOs) have been provided with mobile phones equipped with the mobile applications to upload data on road accidents under their respective police stations. This data will help in identifying accident-prone zones, enabling authorities to take necessary steps to improve road safety.”

The integrated road accident database project is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, funded by the World Bank, with the primary goal of enhancing road safety measures across the country.

SSP Ashish Bharti further explained, “The mobile phones allocated to SHOs will be used exclusively to collect data on road accidents, including photos and videos of accident sites. Detailed information such as the nature of the accident, vehicles involved, weather conditions, and the actual cause of the accident will be recorded in the app.”

He also mentioned, “A list of black spots identified as accident-prone zones has already been compiled, focusing mainly on the Grand Trunk (GT) road and national highways (NH). The detailed assessment provided in the database will not only help in identifying high-risk areas but also expedite the process of compensating victims of road accidents.”

In addition to this initiative, the Gaya police recently reported on tragic road accidents in other parts of the country, emphasizing the urgent need for improved road safety measures. The incidents include a collision between a truck and an autorickshaw in Tamil Nadu, resulting in the loss of three lives, as well as a fatal collision between a Haryana Roadways bus and a car in Rewari, Haryana, claiming the lives of five individuals.

The Gaya police are committed to utilizing technological advancements and data-driven strategies to enhance road safety and prevent road accidents in the region. Through the integration of mobile applications and detailed accident data collection, the initiative aims to create safer roadways for all travelers..
