A devastating incident took place in the quiet city of Ottawa, where a 19-year-old student from Sri Lanka allegedly stabbed and killed a family of six, including young children and a baby girl. The accused, Febrio De-Zoysa, has been charged with six counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Febrio De-Zoysa appeared in court on Thursday, where he mumbled his assent to the justice of the peace’s orders. He was instructed not to speak to the surviving father or four other witnesses who provided statements to the police. The case has been adjourned until March 13 to allow time for him to find legal representation.
