Tragedy struck Calvin Township on Thursday evening when a fatal car crash took the life of a 67-year-old man from Elkhart, Indiana. The incident occurred near the intersection of Bullhead Street and Cassopolis Road, a quiet rural area known for its picturesque landscapes.

Details of the Crash

The crash occurred shortly before 7 p.m. when an Indiana woman driving north on Cassopolis Road collided with a deer. The impact caused the deer to fly through the windshield of an oncoming vehicle, driven by the late Daniel Haskett. Sadly, Haskett did not survive the collision, while the other driver escaped unharmed.

Emergency Response

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, along with EMS, Michigan State Police, the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department, and the Porter Township Fire Department. Despite their efforts, Haskett could not be saved.
