Accident – Death – Obituary News :

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Deputies in Harris County are expected to provide new information about the ongoing search for a man accused of murdering a 12-year-old boy in Cloverleaf.

The tragic incident occurred when Carlos Fernandez’s mother, Ashley Rostro, revealed that her son was trying to protect her when he was fatally shot. She expressed feelings of being let down by the system in failing to protect her family.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled a press conference for 10 a.m. Friday to provide updates on the search for Terry Rivera, the ex-boyfriend of Rostro, who is charged with capital murder.

Rostro recounted how she had pleaded with authorities to protect her from her abusive ex-boyfriend, Rivera, to no avail. She claimed that Rivera had broken into her home and stolen a gun just days before the tragic incident.

According to Rostro, the fatal shooting took place in the early hours of Monday, March 4, as her family slept. Rivera allegedly entered the apartment through an unlocked window, leading to the heartbreaking loss of young Carlos.

Rostro described Rivera’s violent actions and how her son bravely tried to protect her during the attack. She emphasized the need for justice and closure in the wake of the tragedy.

The District Attorney’s Office’s handling of prior incidents involving Rivera has come under scrutiny, with questions raised about missed opportunities to prevent the devastating outcome.

As the community mourns the loss of Carlos Fernandez, Rostro appeals to anyone with information on Rivera’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in bringing him to justice.
