DEERFIELD BEACH TRAGEDY: YOUNG MAN AND TEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH FATAL SHOOTING

A tragic incident unfolded in Deerfield Beach, Florida, as authorities announced that a young man and a teenager have been charged in connection with a shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead. The incident took place at the Heritage Circle Condominiums, a quiet residential area in Deerfield Beach.

Omari Odelin Garcia, 19, of Miami, and a 16-year-old, whose identity has not yet been released, both face third-degree murder charges in relation to the shooting. The Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a single-vehicle crash at the Heritage Circle Condominiums around 7 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Deputies arrived at the scene in the 4300 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue and found an unresponsive man, identified as Bryan Fonseca, who had crashed his black 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 into a tree after being shot. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel rushed Fonseca to Broward Health North, where he tragically passed away on Feb. 2 after being in a coma for three weeks.

The victim’s father, Joseph Fonseca, shared his heartbreak with Local 10 News reporter Roy Ramos, stating that his son had recently moved out of their home after refusing to follow his rules. Joseph described Bryan as a fun, nice, happy kid who was the life of the house.

BSO spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis revealed that the investigation led detectives to Garcia and the teen, who was apprehended by Coral Springs police on an unrelated charge on Feb. 29. Arrest warrants for both suspects were obtained on March 2, with Garcia being taken into custody in Miami on Wednesday.

As of Friday morning, Garcia was being held at the Broward County Main Jail while the 16-year-old suspect was already in jail. Deputies have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting, leaving the community in shock and seeking answers.
