Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Tragic Incident in Arlee

A devastating incident occurred in the small town of Arlee, Montana, in the early hours of March 31, 2023. It was a quiet morning, just after 4 a.m., when Officer T.J. Haynes of the Flathead Tribal Police made a horrific discovery on U.S. Highway 93. Among scattered vehicle debris, Haynes found the lifeless body of Mika Westwolf, a resident of Arlee.

The Search for Justice

Sunny Katherinne White, a Butte woman, was later identified as the suspect in this tragic hit-and-run case. White faced charges of accidents involving another person, criminal child endangerment, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs. These serious felonies could potentially lead to a maximum of 65 years in prison.

A Shocking Revelation

Following the discovery of the victim’s body, investigators determined that the suspect vehicle was believed to be gold in color. Just over an hour later, a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a 2008 Cadillac Escalade with front-end damage and missing a passenger-side rearview mirror parked near Polson. The driver, Sunny White, was seen transferring items from the damaged vehicle to another car.

The Unfolding of Events

White claimed to the deputy that her vehicle had overheated after hitting a deer, but she couldn’t recall the exact location of the collision. Shockingly, White had two young children, aged 2 and 4, in the car at the time of the incident. She alleged that she was passing a bottle to the younger child when the collision occurred.

Legal Proceedings

Montana Highway Patrol took charge of the investigation and discovered methamphetamine, syringes, and Narcan in White’s vehicle. A blood test confirmed the presence of fentanyl and methamphetamine in her system. White was subsequently arrested and held on a $200,000 bond, which she posted the same day.

Continued Legal Battle

As the trial date for Sunny Katherinne White was postponed to September 30, her public defender Meghan Benson indicated plans to file motions in court. The next court appearance for White is scheduled for April 10, as she remains free on bond. The community of Arlee continues to seek justice for the tragic loss of Mika Westwolf.
