In a heartbreaking turn of events, a fatal semi rollover crash on Highway 13/151 near Marion, Iowa, has resulted in the tragic loss of two lives. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, leaving the community in mourning.
Details of the Accident
The devastating crash took place at approximately 8:45 a.m. when the driver of a seed truck lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over in the southbound lanes of Highway 13/151 near Travis Road. The driver, identified as 74-year-old John Kilburg, was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. His wife, 70-year-old Donelle Kilburg, who was a passenger in the vehicle, also tragically passed away later that afternoon. The couple hailed from Spragueville, Iowa.
Impact on Traffic
The aftermath of the crash resulted in the complete blockage of the southbound lanes by the overturned truck. Additionally, debris, including seed corn, spilled onto one of the northbound lanes, causing further disruption to traffic flow in the area.
Rescue Efforts
First responders arrived at the scene to find both the driver and passenger trapped inside the wrecked vehicle. Emergency crews worked diligently to extract the victims from the truck cab, but unfortunately, their efforts could not save the lives of the Kilburgs.
