Tragic Incident in Natchitoches, Louisiana

A tragic incident unfolded in the peaceful town of Natchitoches, Louisiana, where one person lost their life after leading police on a chase. The incident took place on the campus of Northwestern State University (NSU) in the early hours of the morning.

The events began around 12:30 a.m. when officers from the NSU Police Department noticed a suspicious car parked in the Watson Library parking lot. Upon approaching the vehicle and requesting the driver to exit, the situation escalated as the driver sped off, heading west on University Parkway.

Seeking assistance, the NSU Police Department called in the Natchitoches Police Department, sparking a chase that led to a series of collisions. The driver crashed into three police cars before coming to a halt near the southbound offramp of I-49. As officers attempted to communicate with the driver, a single gunshot was heard from within the vehicle.

Tragically, the driver, identified as Georgia Stenson, a 51-year-old resident of Shreveport, was pronounced dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office.
