Second Homicide Investigation Underway in Lawrence
Law enforcement authorities in Douglas County are currently investigating a second homicide in Lawrence this week. The incident took place just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the 700 block of Vermont Street.
The suspect, identified as Nicholas Beaver, has been safely taken into custody by Lawrence Police Officers without incident. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward with any information they may have by contacting them at (785)832-7509.
Previous Incident
On Wednesday, police were also searching for 21-year-old Dawson Edward Paine in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Tuesday night in the 2900 block of Crestline Drive.
Just after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police were dispatched to a residence where Paine allegedly shot 18-year-old Davin Gregory Kerr of Lawrence. Kerr was later pronounced dead at a Kansas City area trauma center.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dawson Paine to call 911 immediately. Paine is considered armed and dangerous, and individuals are advised not to approach or contact him.
