The suspect, identified as Febrio De-Zoysa, has been charged with six counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Ottawa police chief Eric Stubbs revealed that an “edged weapon” or “knife-like object” was used in the heinous attack that claimed the lives of the victims. The victims, all Sri Lankan nationals who had recently moved to Canada, included a 35-year-old mother, her seven-year-old son, and daughters aged four, two, and just two-and-a-half months old. Another victim was a 40-year-old acquaintance of the family.
