Tragic Shooting at The Commons At Pembroke Apartment Complex

Over the weekend, a tragic incident unfolded at The Commons At Pembroke Apartment Complex near UNC Pembroke in Robeson County, N.C. Two individuals were shot and killed, including a college student, in a senseless act of violence that has left the community in shock.

Victim Identified as College Student

Among the victims was 19-year-old sophomore Cameron Taylor, a nursing major at UNC Pembroke. Cameron was a beloved member of the Eta Upsilon chapter of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, known for his kind heart and dedication to his studies.

Chancellor Mourns Loss

UNC Pembroke Chancellor Robin Gary Cummings expressed his sorrow at the loss of young life in such a tragic manner. In a letter to the university, he highlighted the impact of senseless gun violence on the entire community.

Investigation Underway

Authorities from the Pembroke Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation are currently looking into the case. Despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made at this time as they continue to gather information and piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
