Woman Found Murdered at City Park in Nairobi
A tragic incident has occurred at City Park in Parklands, Nairobi, where the body of a woman identified as Rosemary Shikoku, 35, was found dumped. Her hands were tied with a rope to the back, and she had injuries on her face. The discovery was made by a man who had ventured into the park, and upon spotting the body, he immediately informed the police.
Identification Found Near the Body
Next to the body, a bag suspected to be the victim’s luggage was found, containing an identification waiting card and a police abstract issued at Kamukunji police station. Assorted clothing was also found inside the bag, indicating that the murder may have been committed elsewhere and the body transported to the scene. Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei confirmed that no blood was oozing from the inflicted injuries, and the scene was undisturbed.
Investigation Underway
Detectives are currently investigating the murder, with the main focus on determining where the woman was killed. The body has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, and the motive behind the murder remains unknown. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the case.
Garbage Collector Stabbed to Death in Dandora
In a separate incident, a garbage collector named Alex Mwendwa was stabbed and killed in an attack by a rival group in Nairobi’s Dandora area. Dandora, known for hosting the city’s dumping site, is a hub for garbage collectors who operate in the area.
Territorial Dispute Turns Deadly
Control of the dumping sites within Dandora is a lucrative business, leading to territorial disputes among the collectors that can sometimes turn violent. On Monday, March 4, Alex Mwendwa was attacked at his friend’s house in Baraka Mowlem by a group of garbage collectors over territory wars.
Police Launch Investigation
After the attack, Mwendwa was rushed to Mama Lucy hospital with multiple injuries, where he later succumbed to his wounds. One suspect was caught by a mob and handed over to the police for interrogation. Authorities are hopeful of making more arrests in connection to the murder as the investigation unfolds.
A major operation is scheduled at the dump site in Dandora as part of the probe into the murder, with the aim of bringing those responsible to justice and preventing further violence among the garbage collectors.
