In a tragic incident that shook the community of Brownsville, Texas, a teenager has been charged in connection to a deadly stabbing. The trial for Ernesto De Los Reyes, who is facing a charge of murder for the fatal stabbing of 20-year-old Rolando Reyna Jr., has been scheduled for March 25.

**Details of the Incident**

The incident took place at 5:24 a.m. on Sept. 24, 2023, at the Bella Terra Apartments located at the 3200 block of Galeno Crossing in Brownsville. Brownsville police officers responded to a call about a stabbing and found Reyna outside the apartment complex parking lot. He had been stabbed in the chest by De Los Reyes during a physical altercation.

**Eyewitness Accounts**

Witnesses at the scene informed the police that Reyna and De Los Reyes had been confrontational throughout the night, and the situation escalated in the parking lot. De Los Reyes was still inside the apartment complex with the knife in his possession. When instructed to come out by the officers, he walked out with the knife in his right hand. Initially arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the charge was later upgraded to murder after Reyna succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

**Legal Proceedings**

On Jan. 23, De Los Reyes entered a plea of not guilty in court. The jury trial has now been scheduled for March 25, where the teenager will face the charges brought against him. The community waits anxiously for the outcome of the trial and justice for the victim, Rolando Reyna Jr.
