88-Year-Old SEPTA Bus Driver Gunned Down in West Philadelphia
One of the victims of the recent gun violence spree in Philadelphia was an 88-year-old man identified as Richard Butler. He was fatally shot in broad daylight while sitting in his car in West Philadelphia. Butler, a retired SEPTA bus driver, was known to have been going about his normal routine before the tragic incident occurred.
Home surveillance footage captured a suspect getting out of a silver sedan and approaching Butler’s car before the shooting took place. Despite efforts to save him, Butler succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Other Fatal Shootings Across the City
Another fatal shooting occurred near Rosehill and East Tioga Streets in Kensington, claiming the life of a 41-year-old man. The incident remains under investigation, with authorities yet to identify any suspects or determine a motive.
In a separate incident near the MET in North Philadelphia, two men were shot in what police describe as a shootout following an argument at a nearby banquet location. The violence left one man critically injured and another requiring surgery.
