Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide After Fatal Crash in Plantation, Florida

A tragic incident occurred in Plantation, Florida, where a Broward County man has been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal crash that took place in 2022. The incident unfolded near the 7100 block of Sunrise Boulevard, a bustling area in the heart of Plantation.

Details of the Crash

According to police reports, the crash took place just before 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 12, 2022. Authorities responded to the scene and found a white Mercedes C300 that had sustained significant damage near a median along Sunrise Boulevard. The driver, identified as Xa’Vion Ty-Rique Bolden, 18, of Lauderdale Lakes, was driving with three passengers in his vehicle at the time of the crash.

Speeding and Tragic Outcome

An investigation revealed that Bolden was driving at a speed of 111 miles per hour just 3.5 seconds before the crash and was going at 80 miles per hour at the moment of impact. Unfortunately, one of the passengers, Nathan Kamae Pierre Mervilus, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.

Reckless Driving and Legal Consequences

Police confirmed that the crash was a result of reckless driving, as evidenced by over 165 feet of skid marks on the road. The vehicle lost control and crashed into two palm trees, leading to Mervilus’ tragic death due to multiple blunt force injuries. Bolden now faces one count of vehicular homicide and three counts of reckless driving causing property damage.
