On March 5, before DC Superior Court Judge Robert Okun, a triple vehicular homicide defendant rejected a plea deal offered by the prosecution.

The Tragic Incident

Nakita Walker, 44, faces three counts of second-degree murder for a harrowing crash that took the lives of Mohamed Kamara, 43, Johnathan Alberto Cabrera Mendez, 23, and Olvin Josue Torres Velasquez, 22. The tragic incident occurred on March 15, 2023, on Rock Creek Parkway near the intersection of 26th Street and P Street, NW, in Washington, D.C.

Details of the Incident

Court documents reveal that the fatal collision unfolded after a vehicle, driven by Walker, evaded a Park Police officer on Rock Creek Parkway, eventually leading to the devastating crash site. Walker’s blood alcohol content was found to be significantly over the legal limit at the time of the incident.

The Legal Proceedings

During the court hearing, the prosecution proposed a plea deal that would require Walker to plead guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter in exchange for a maximum jail term of 30 years. However, Walker’s defense attorney, Albert Ammisah, informed the court that Walker was declining the plea deal and requested a trial date to be set.

Walker had previously pleaded not guilty to all charges during her arraignment on February 22. Concerns were raised by Judge Okun regarding Walker’s understanding of the plea deal, prompting a continuance to allow her attorney to explain the offer more thoroughly. A trial date has been scheduled for August 12, 2025, with a return date set for May 3.
