Two Men Hospitalized After Being Shot by Chandler Police Officers

Over the weekend, a dramatic incident unfolded in Chandler, Arizona, as two men were shot by police officers in a residential area near the Chandler Fashion Center. The Chandler Police Department responded to a call for service in the neighbourhood of Country Club Way and Carla Vista Drive, where they encountered two armed suspects.

Suspects Engage with Police Officers

Upon arrival, officers found one suspect standing in the doorway of a home holding a gun, while the second suspect was located near the east end of the residence. The man in the doorway, identified as Luciano Gutierrez, refused to comply with police commands and exited his house with his weapon raised.

Police officers were forced to make split-second decisions as Gutierrez posed a threat by raising his weapon. In response, officers fired their own weapons, injuring Gutierrez and the second suspect, a 33-year-old neighbour whose name has not been disclosed.

Police Officers on Administrative Leave

The officers involved in the shooting have been identified as a sergeant with nine years of service and two officers with five years of service each. Following the incident, all three officers have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the shooting.
