Man and Teenage Boy Wanted After Shooting, Robbery, and Assault in Northern Manitoba

A disturbing series of events unfolded in northern Manitoba, where a shooting, a robbery, and an assault took place within hours of each other. The incidents occurred in Pukatawagan, leaving the community in shock and the authorities on high alert.

Shooting Incident

The first incident was reported shortly after 1 a.m. on Crow Rock Drive in Pukatawagan. RCMP responded to a call about a shooting at a home, where they found a 16-year-old boy with a shotgun wound. The victim was rushed to the nursing station and later transferred to a hospital in Winnipeg, where he is currently in stable condition.

According to investigators, Jerome Bighetty, 17, arrived at the home on a snowmobile. The victim, along with Bighetty and Bowden Nicholas, 22, were outside when Bighetty opened fire, injuring the teenage boy. Both suspects fled the scene before the authorities arrived.

Assault and Robbery

Two hours after the shooting, a 19-year-old woman in Pukatawagan reported being assaulted by Bighetty, who was identified as the suspect in that attack. Later that evening, a 12-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint of his snowmobile outside a business on Amisk Drive. Bighetty was also named as the suspect in that robbery.

The stolen snowmobile was recovered a short distance away, and fortunately, the 12-year-old boy was unharmed. Despite extensive patrols and searches, the authorities have not yet located Bighetty and Nicholas, who are believed to be together. Bighetty is considered armed and dangerous.

Wanted Suspects

Jerome Bighetty is wanted on charges of firing a gun with intent, robbery with a firearm, and assault. He is described as five feet six inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Bowden Nicholas is wanted for gun and breach-related charges, standing at five feet four inches tall, weighing 119 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects is urged to contact Pukatawagan RCMP or Crime Stoppers anonymously. The authorities have sought permission to publish Bighetty’s identity due to concerns about public safety and the need to apprehend him.

These incidents have rattled the tight-knit community of Pukatawagan, with residents urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the wanted individuals to the authorities. The safety and well-being of all community members are of paramount importance in resolving this unsettling situation.
