Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A tragic incident that occurred nearly three years ago has finally seen some justice, as charges have been laid in the hit-and-run death of 19-year-old Burnaby South Secondary School graduate, Damien Seguin. The accused, Brandon Glen Lowe, 22, has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and attempting to obstruct justice in relation to the March 2021 crash that took Seguin’s life.

Details of the Incident

The charges stem from a crash that took place at Macpherson Avenue and Marine Drive in the early hours of March 26, 2021. Police were called to the scene after reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found Seguin, who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries several days later in the hospital.

According to police reports, the incident was preceded by a confrontation involving individuals from three different vehicles. Pepper spray was deployed during the altercation, and Seguin was struck by a vehicle as he exited one of the vehicles involved. The suspect vehicle fled the scene immediately following the collision, leaving Seguin injured and alone.

During the investigation, a golf club was recovered at the scene, indicating the violent nature of the confrontation that led to Seguin’s untimely death. Police believe that the altercation began elsewhere and culminated at the intersection where the fatal crash occurred.

Legal Proceedings

After months of investigation, Brandon Glen Lowe was arrested at his Vancouver home in May 2021. The vehicle believed to be involved in the hit-and-run was seized at that time. However, it wasn’t until this week that charges were officially laid against Lowe. He appeared in Vancouver provincial court and was subsequently released pending his next court appearance on April 17.

Due to a publication ban, details of Lowe’s bail hearing cannot be disclosed to the public. The legal process is ongoing as the case progresses through the justice system.

Justice for Damien Seguin

The community continues to mourn the loss of Damien Seguin, a young man whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. As the legal proceedings unfold, friends and family of Seguin hope that justice will be served and that those responsible for his death will be held accountable for their actions.
