Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 51-year-old man tragically lost his life in a horrific accident on the Western Express Highway (WEH) in Mumbai. The victim, Shivkumar Singh, was the owner of a security service firm and was riding along with his employee when the incident occurred.

Details of the Accident

The mishap took place around 11.45pm near the Dahisar checkpoint. As Singh and his employee approached the area, a speeding tempo suddenly veered towards the left and collided with their scooter from behind. The impact caused the tempo’s rear wheel to drive over Singh’s head, resulting in a severe head injury. The employee was also injured, albeit less severely, as he was thrown away from the road.

Local bystanders rushed to help the injured duo and transported them to a nearby hospital in Mira Road. Despite efforts to save him, doctors pronounced Singh dead.

Legal Action Taken

The tempo driver, identified as Iftikhar Shaikh, was apprehended by the authorities at the scene. He has since been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rash driving and causing death by negligence.

Past Incidents of Reckless Driving on WEH

This tragic incident is not an isolated case on the Western Express Highway. In a previous incident, a 48-year-old truck driver was arrested for causing the death of two individuals who were riding a motorcycle. The driver, Jitendra Singh, allegedly worked for Indian Oil and was held accountable for the fatal collision.

According to reports, the accident occurred near the Agripada bus stop in Santacruz East, where the truck collided with the victims’ motorcycle. The victims, Shyam Tekale and Dharmraj Kure, were on their way to purchase firecrackers when the tragic incident took place.

Incidents like these highlight the dangers of reckless driving on busy highways like the Western Express Highway, and serve as a reminder for both drivers and pedestrians to prioritize safety on the road.
