Allegations Against Ganjar Pranowo

Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) recently reported Ganjar Pranowo, the former governor of Central Java and presidential candidate number three, to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The allegations revolve around accusations of accepting gratification or bribes in the form of cashback from insurance companies. Ganjar Pranowo vehemently denied these accusations, stating, “I have never received any gifts or gratuities from anyone they accused me of.”

IPW’s report claims that Ganjar Pranowo and the director of lender BPD Central Java, identified as S, were involved in criminal acts of corruption related to gratification and bribery. The alleged gratification amounts to more than Rp100 billion and is said to have taken place between 2014 and 2023.

According to IPW chief Sugeng Teguh Santoso, insurance companies provided credit guarantees to Bank Jateng creditors, which were disguised as cashbacks. The bank allegedly controlled cashback from insurance companies, with 16 percent of the premium value being allocated to various parties.

KPK’s Response

KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri confirmed that the report filed by IPW against Ganjar Pranowo will be investigated. “We will immediately follow up on the report by first verifying it,” Ali stated.
