Man Arrested for Robbing Three Businesses in Northwest D.C.
A man was taken into custody on Monday for committing a series of robberies in the Northwest area of Washington, D.C. The incidents took place at various establishments in different blocks, causing concern among residents and business owners in the neighbourhood.
First Robbery on 14th St., NW
The first robbery occurred on February 22 around 7:50 p.m. at a business located in the 1800 block of 14th St., NW. The suspect, allegedly armed, approached an employee and demanded money. Fearing for their safety, the employee handed over the cash, and the man quickly fled the scene, leaving behind a sense of unease in the neighbourhood.
Subsequent Robberies on 18th St., NW and U St., NW
On March 4, the suspect struck again, this time targeting two different businesses on the same day. At 1:10 p.m., he entered an establishment in the 2400 block of 18th St., NW, and demanded money from the employee. However, the quick-thinking employee informed the suspect that the store had no cash, prompting the suspect to leave empty-handed.
Minutes later, at 1:56 p.m., the suspect entered another business in the 1000 block of U St., NW. With a concealed weapon in his pocket, he demanded money from the employee. Fortunately, the employee managed to avoid a confrontation, and the suspect left without obtaining any money.
Suspect Identified and Charged
The authorities identified the suspect as 20-year-old Isaiah Harris, a resident of Northeast D.C. Harris was subsequently charged with two counts of attempted robbery and one count of robbery (fear), bringing a sense of relief to the affected businesses and the community at large.
