Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The shocking incident of a 29-year-old woman in Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu, has left the community in mourning. The woman, identified as G Ponnarasi, allegedly murdered her seven-year-old daughter, G Krithiga, and four-year-old son, G Monish, before taking her own life. The tragic incident occurred after a quarrel with her husband, Gopinath, who runs a sawmill.

According to police reports, the quarrel between the couple escalated after Gopinath scolded his wife for speaking to her mother, who initially did not approve of their marriage, over the phone frequently. Three days prior to the incident, Gopinath had snatched Ponnarasi’s phone and broke it out of anger.

On the fateful Sunday morning, Gopinath returned home after leaving his wife and children at home following their church visit. Upon finding the door locked from inside, he broke it open to discover the lifeless bodies of his wife and children. Ponnarasi had allegedly hanged her two children before ending her own life in a similar manner.

A police team led by Villupuram DSP Suresh arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them to Mundiyambappal government medical college hospital for postmortem examination. Initial investigations suggest that Ponnarasi was devastated by her husband’s restrictions and took the drastic step of ending her children’s lives and her own.

In light of this tragic incident, authorities are reminding individuals that assistance for those experiencing suicidal thoughts is available through Tamil Nadu’s health helpline 104 and Sneha’s suicide prevention helpline at 044-24640050. The community is urged to come together to support each other during this difficult time.

In recent times, similar cases of violence within households have surfaced, including the brutal murder of a 40-year-old woman in Visakhapatnam and the tragic deaths of a couple in Pune. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing mental health issues and promoting healthy relationships within families..
