An Indianapolis man, Ernesto Gillot, has been sentenced to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of 34-year-old Emmanuel Terveus. The incident took place on the far east side of Indianapolis in June 2022.

Details of the Crime

According to court documents, Gillot entered a guilty plea to one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder in late February. As a result, he was handed a 45-year prison sentence for the murder charge. In addition, Gillot will serve two concurrent 30-year sentences for the attempted murder charges.

The fatal shooting occurred on the evening of June 12, 2022, in the 3700 block of N. Mitthoefer. Responding officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department found Terveus shot inside a vehicle. Tragically, Terveus succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Investigation and Arrest

IMPD officials revealed that two other individuals inside the vehicle suffered injuries from glass and shrapnel during the incident. Investigators determined that an argument had escalated into the deadly shooting.
