The perpetrator, identified as Brandon Nguyen, a 29-year-old resident of Huntington Beach, was apprehended at LAX Airport on March 4, 2024.

The investigation, spearheaded by the dedicated Homicide detectives, included the review of security camera footage, collaboration with local establishments and community members, and extensive efforts to identify the culprit. Chief of Police Wally Hebeish reaffirmed the department’s unwavering commitment to holding those accountable for acts of violence, stating, “We will not tolerate violence in our community.”

The victim, a 20-year-old Long Beach resident, has not been publicly named pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of March 3, 2024, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Officers arrived at the scene within minutes of the reported stabbing and immediately administered medical aid to the victim, who later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
