Tragic Accident in Chariton County Claims the Life of 3-Year-Old Boy

On a Monday afternoon, a devastating incident unfolded in Chariton County, near Marceline, Missouri, resulting in the tragic death of a 3-year-old child. The Missouri State Highway Patrol revealed that the heart-wrenching accident took place on private property along Route C, approximately 10 miles southwest of Marceline, at around 3:47 p.m.

Details of the Incident

The vehicle involved in the accident was a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500, travelling eastbound when the young pedestrian unexpectedly darted into its path. The child, whose identity has been withheld, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Chariton County Coroner Nyle Bowyer at 4:18 p.m.

Driver Information

The driver of the Dodge Ram has been identified as 41-year-old Justin M. Henke from Salisbury, Missouri. Reports indicate that Henke was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the tragic accident. Fortunately, there was no mention of Henke sustaining any injuries in the heartbreaking incident.

Response and Assistance

Following the distressing event, the young victim was transported to Sommerville Funeral Home by the Linn County Coroner. Various authorities, including Corporal Primm, Trooper Gipson, the Chariton County Sheriff’s Office, and Linn County EMS, were present at the scene to provide assistance and support.
