Accident – Death – Obituary News : Bhopal: A magisterial probe has been ordered into the death of a man who was serving a life imprisonment term of 12 years at Rewa Central Jail. The deceased has been identified as Narendra Patel, 40, son of Chhotelal Patel of Naudhiya village under Laur police station in Rewa.

A local court had sentenced him to life term imprisonment in April 2012 for murdering his wife and for dowry harassment. The deceased had gone on a parole on January 17 and when he returned to jail on February 1, he had informed the jail administration about an injury that he had received while he was out, as per a jail official.

Superintendent of Rewa Central Jail, SK Upadhyay, stated, “The convict had sustained some injury while he was out on bail and he was in good health. On March 1 night, he suddenly complained of chest pain and was rushed to the hospital where he passed away. A magisterial probe is currently underway.”

In a related development, a recent article published detailed the case of Satyaveer Singh, 45, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering a fellow villager in November 2017 over a property dispute. Singh had previously attempted to murder the victim and went into hiding. He was convicted based on testimonies of seven witnesses and under sections 302 and 323 of the IPC and the Arms Act.
