The Incident in North Nashville

In a disturbing turn of events, a man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his father at a residence in North Nashville. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 2000 block of Ed Temple Boulevard in the early hours of Thursday, Feb. 29.

Details of the Shooting

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim, identified as the suspect’s father, with multiple gunshot wounds to his right shoulder, upper right chest, and lower left abdomen. The injured man was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses Speak Out

According to witnesses, the suspect, Derrick Gore, 31, was seen holding a gun and threatening his father before shooting him. One witness reported hearing two gunshots and seeing Gore point the gun at his father while making a chilling statement. The witness immediately called 911 upon seeing the victim’s injuries.

Arrest and Charges

Despite fleeing the scene before the arrival of law enforcement, Derrick Gore was later apprehended and booked into Metro Jail on Sunday, March 3. He now faces charges of attempted criminal homicide and is being held on a $500,000 bond. MNPD has stated that there is probable cause to believe that Gore intended to unlawfully kill his father by shooting him.
