On the evening of February 29th, officers with the West Burlington Police Department made a significant arrest in a parking lot located in the 2700 block of Mt. Pleasant Street. The arrest was made after a routine traffic stop was conducted due to an observed equipment violation.

Details of the Arrest

During the traffic stop, Cigi Bowman, a 34-year-old resident of Burlington, was identified as the driver of the vehicle. With the assistance of K9 Maverick, officers conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle, which led to the detection of illegal narcotics. Subsequently, a search of the vehicle revealed the presence of methamphetamine and heroin.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

As a result of the discovery, Bowman was placed under arrest and transported to the Des Moines County Jail. He now faces charges of possession of a controlled substance 3rd offense-methamphetamine, a class D felony, and possession of a controlled substance 3rd Offense- heroin, also a class D felony. Bowman is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on March 11th.
