Tragic Accident Claims Three Lives in Mossville, Peoria County

In a devastating turn of events, a fatal three-vehicle collision occurred on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Route 6 and 29 in Mossville, Peoria County. The Peoria County Coroner has released further details about the incident that claimed the lives of three individuals.

According to Coroner Jamie Harwood, the collision involved a van driven by 97-year-old Charles Mundy of Chillicothe, who failed to stop at a red light at the intersection. This led to a chain reaction crash involving a pickup truck and a midsize SUV, resulting in tragic consequences.

Mundy, along with 72-year-old Victor Snodgrass and his wife, 71-year-old Norma Snodgrass, both from Chillicothe, succumbed to multiple blunt-force trauma injuries sustained in the accident. Despite being rushed to the hospital, all three individuals tragically passed away within seconds of the collision.

The Illinois State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash, while toxicology results are pending in accordance with state law. A fourth person involved in the accident was fortunately only left with minor injuries.
