Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Following a request from 30th Judicial District Attorney General Steve Mulroy, TBI special agents are currently investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that took place on Sunday night involving officers from the Collierville Police Department.

Initial reports indicate that the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when Collierville officers conducted a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Schilling Boulevard. A physical altercation broke out between one of the officers and the driver, identified as Antwon Booker (DOB 03/08/1993). During the struggle, Booker allegedly attempted to grab the officer’s gun, leading the other officer to fire his service weapon, fatally striking Booker, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The investigation into this tragic incident is currently ongoing. TBI agents are diligently working to piece together the events that transpired prior to the shooting, gathering evidence and conducting interviews. The findings of the investigation will be shared with the District Attorney General for further review. It is important to note that the TBI’s role is strictly to gather facts and does not involve determining the justification of an officer’s actions in such cases, as that decision rests with the District Attorney General.

In line with protocol, the officers involved in the incident will not be named by the TBI, and any inquiries regarding their identities will be directed to the respective department for comment.
