Tragic Multi-Vehicle Crash in Norman, Oklahoma

A fatal multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 9 in Norman, Oklahoma has left the community in shock. The incident occurred on March 1, between 48th Avenue SE and 60th Avenue SE on Highway 9 at around 7:04 p.m.

Details of the Crash

According to the Norman Police Department, the initial investigation into the crash revealed that a car traveling westbound on Hwy 9 crossed the center line, resulting in a head-on collision with a car traveling eastbound. This initial impact led to three more vehicles becoming involved in the wreck.

The driver who crossed the center line has been identified as a 62-year-old female. Sadly, she was transported to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was the sole occupant of her vehicle.

The driver of the car that was hit head-on is a 28-year-old female who sustained critical injuries and was also taken to a nearby hospital. Additionally, there was a 7-year-old passenger in the vehicle who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized.

Fortunately, the occupants of the other three vehicles involved either sustained non-life-threatening injuries or were unharmed in the crash.

Investigation Ongoing

The cause of the tragic crash is still under investigation by the Norman Police Department and the OUPD Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team. Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events that led to this devastating incident.
