Arrest Made in Santa Ana Shooting of Toddler

Less than two weeks after a tragic incident that left a 3-year-old girl critically injured in Santa Ana, California, authorities have made an arrest in connection with the shooting. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Angel Castillo, a documented gang member from Santa Ana, was apprehended in Santa Fe Springs on Thursday.

Castillo is facing multiple charges, including two counts of attempted murder, criminal street gang activity, and discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury or death. The shooting occurred on February 25th around 8 p.m. at the intersection of 15th and Spurgeon streets in Santa Ana.

According to police reports, the shooter targeted a vehicle carrying a woman, her boyfriend, and her two daughters, ages 3 and 4. While the mother’s boyfriend, also a documented gang member, was the intended target and escaped unharmed, the 3-year-old girl in the backseat was struck by at least one bullet. She was quickly rushed to Children’s Hospital of Orange County, where she underwent successful surgery.
