Eight killed in rain related incidents in KP
PESHAWAR: The recent spell of heavy rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has tragically resulted in the loss of eight lives across various parts of the province.
Aside from human casualties, there have also been reports of livestock perishing in the inclement weather, according to Rescue 1122 KP officials.
The victims of this devastating weather event include five children, a woman, and two men, who lost their lives due to collapsing roofs.
Tragic Losses in Kandao Mamond and Lower Dir
In Kandao Mamond, three children met a tragic fate when their house’s roof caved in as a result of the relentless rain. Despite the efforts of the Rescue 1122 team, the children were unable to survive being buried under the debris.
Meanwhile, in Lower Dir district, a family comprising a husband, wife, and daughter faced a similar fate in the Molay Khat area of Talash. A landslide struck their home, resulting in the death of three family members, with one individual currently receiving medical treatment.
Rescue Efforts and Tragic Outcomes
The rescue operation in Lower Dir continued for over three hours amidst heavy downpour, eventually leading to the extraction of the trapped individuals from the rubble. The deceased have been identified as Zahid (25), his wife (23), and their daughter Harira (5), while their injured child Tafla Arham is currently under medical care.
In Batkhela, at the village of Aladand Dehrai, a woman and her daughter lost their lives when their house’s roof collapsed. Noor Rehman’s family, including his spouse and three daughters, found themselves buried under the debris following the structural collapse.
Condolences and Recovery
After a grueling rescue operation, Noor Rehman’s wife and five-year-old daughter, Mah-e-Noor, were discovered deceased, while the remaining family members are receiving treatment in hospital. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this tragic turn of events in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
