Tragic Motorcycle Crash on the North-South Expressway in Batu Pahat

A heart-wrenching incident took place on the North-South Expressway in Batu Pahat, where a 56-year-old man lost his life in a fatal motorcycle collision. The tragedy occurred at KM82.4 of the expressway, turning a routine morning ride into a devastating event.

Acting OCPD Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani of Batu Pahat revealed that the unfortunate crash happened at 6.30am on a Saturday morning. The three motorcyclists, journeying north from Johor Baru, found themselves caught in a harrowing moment that changed their lives forever.

As they approached Ayer Hitam, the riders, who were travelling in a convoy, collided with each other, leading to a catastrophic outcome. Muhamad Sagap, one of the riders, suffered fatal injuries and tragically lost his life at the scene. The two other riders, aged 38 and 46, sustained severe head and neck injuries, respectively.

Amidst the chaos, an SUV driven by a 29-year-old woman was also present at the scene. Miraculously, she managed to avoid the collision with the motorcycles but ended up crashing into the road divider in a bid to steer clear of the accident.

All the injured individuals were promptly rushed to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for urgent medical attention. While the surviving victims received treatment for their injuries, the woman emerged unscathed from the ordeal.

The authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987, aiming to determine the cause of the tragic collision and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
