The first tragedy involved a woman discovered near drug paraphernalia on railroad tracks connecting to a tent encampment in the Harvey West neighborhood. Toxicology results were pending for the woman, identified as Kianakeo Vasquez, 39.
Shortly after, officers responding to an encampment cleanup in Arana Gulch found a deceased individual inside a tent, indicating a death that had occurred at least two months prior. Details about the man were not immediately available from the coroner’s division.
Tragically, the string of deaths continued into Thursday, as emergency responders were called to Market Street beneath the Water Street bridge for a man beyond help. The man was later identified as Wayne Spann, 71.
