The victim, identified as David John Mendoza II by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, was travelling westbound on Blanco Road when he was struck by a vehicle. The impact caused him to be knocked off his scooter, resulting in severe injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

CHP’s Investigation

Initially, California Highway Patrol believed that the victim had fallen from his scooter and was subsequently run over multiple times. However, further investigation revealed the true nature of the incident, prompting the authorities to seek information from the public.
