Tragic Fire Claims Lives of Two Journalists

On a devastating Thursday night, a fire broke out in a building on Bailey Road in the heart of the capital city, claiming the lives of two journalists. Tushar Hawlader and Abhishruti Shashtri tragically lost their lives in the blaze.

Journalists with Promising Careers

Tushar Hawlader, a graduate of the Department of Journalism at Daffodil University, had been working at TheReport.live before joining the online multimedia company Star Tech in February. Abhishruti Shashtri, also a journalist at TheReport.live, was known for her coverage of election news.

Devastating Loss of Life

The fire, which started around 9:45pm, resulted in the deaths of at least 46 people, with over 20 others sustaining severe injuries. Firefighters worked tirelessly to rescue 70 individuals, including 42 who were found unconscious on the rooftop and different floors of the seven-storey Green Cozy Cottage.

Rapid Spread of the Blaze

Fire officials reported that the fire spread rapidly due to the presence of gas cylinders on several floors in the restaurant kitchens. The thick smoke in the staircase prevented many from escaping the building, leading to tragic outcomes for those trapped inside.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise from unexpected fires and the importance of fire safety measures in all buildings. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of all those affected by this tragic event.
