Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a tragic incident in the Southern California city of El Cajon, one person was killed and two others were wounded when a gunman opened fire in a dental office on Thursday afternoon. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Mohammed Abdulkareem, was taken into custody following a manhunt that lasted into the evening.

Suspect Flees in White U-Haul Pickup Truck

The El Cajon Police Department reported on social media that the suspect had fled in a white U-Haul pickup truck with an Arizona license plate. After a search that lasted several hours, the police reported that Abdulkareem had been captured. No details on the arrest were immediately provided.

Victims and Motive

During a news briefing prior to the arrest, El Cajon police Capt. Rob Ransweiler revealed that one victim, a male, died at the scene of the shooting. The names of the victims were not released, but two others were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds and are expected to survive. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and police did not provide any further details on the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Suspect Armed with Handgun

Ransweiler disclosed that the suspect was armed with a handgun and that there were other people inside the dental office at the time of the shooting. Investigators were able to identify the suspect using the city’s surveillance cameras. “We were able to obtain license plate information from the Flock camera system as the vehicle left the area,” Ransweiler explained. “So we never saw the suspect on scene. And so…we were able to use that technology to identify the vehicle, confirm it was rented by the suspect.”

Location and Aftermath

El Cajon is situated about 15 miles east of San Diego, and the incident has left the community in shock. The police have assured the public that the suspect is in custody and that there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the events that led to the tragic outcome.
