The victims, including a woman named S Sumathi, her son S Saravanan, and the autorickshaw driver A Aravind, were traveling back home from a hospital when the accident occurred.

Saravanan and Sumathi had been in Pettaivaithalai town for Sumathi’s medical treatment, as she was unwell. As they were nearing the Sakthi Nagar locality on the Trichy-Karur NH, a truck carrying mineral sand collided with their autorickshaw. The impact of the crash was so severe that both vehicles plunged into an irrigation canal running alongside the highway.

Victims Identified

The victims have been identified as S Sumathi, 65, of Analai village, her son S Saravanan, 35, and autorickshaw driver A Aravind, 30, of Thirupparaithurai. The sudden loss of these individuals has left the community in shock and mourning.

Arrest Made

The truck driver, identified as M Velliraja, 30, was arrested by the Pettaivaithalai police following the accident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the collision and to ensure that justice is served for the lives lost.
