Two individuals have been formally charged in connection with a tragic shooting that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man at an apartment complex located in West Allis, a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Details of the Incident

The victim, Noah Phillips, lost his life after being shot on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, in a parking lot near the intersection of 64th Street and Lincoln Avenue, as per reports from West Allis police and a criminal complaint.

The two suspects, identified as Alexzander Schlieve from Port Washington and Dawson Kurer from West Allis, both aged 25, were charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Friday in connection to the incident.

Schlieve had been in police custody since Oct. 19, 2023, while Kurer was taken into custody on Oct. 27, 2023, according to records from the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

Witness Testimonies

According to the criminal complaint, a witness residing in the apartment building where the shooting took place reported hearing gunshots and observing a white male individual next to a silver vehicle in the parking lot. The witness saw the man pulling Phillips out of the vehicle and engaging in a verbal exchange.

The suspect then removed Phillips from the vehicle and fled the scene in the silver car, heading south. The witness immediately called 911 to report the incident.

Further investigations revealed that on the same day of the homicide, a gray 2007 Buick Lucerne, which matched the description of a vehicle seen leaving the scene, was found burning near 1919 N. 33rd Street in Milwaukee.

Footage from a Milwaukee County Transit bus captured the Buick with the same license plate passing by minutes before the shooting. The video showed two individuals in the car, with the driver resembling Phillips and the passenger matching the description of Schlieve.

Arrests and Charges

Schlieve, who has a history of criminal convictions, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of a firearm by a felon, faces charges of first-degree reckless homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 75 years in prison.

On the other hand, Kurer has been charged with aiding a felon and could face a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.

The investigation also revealed that Kurer had regular contact with Schlieve and was in the vicinity at the time of the shooting, as indicated by phone records and surveillance footage.
